This project was chosen to explore and identify more effective ways to teach soft skills to persons with barriers and disadvantages to employment at Work It!, Inc. Prior to this project, the class was taught one time weekly for one hour for 8 weeks. Due to the lack of evidence of learning transference, the model was changed to an upfront training program that offered half day trainings for one week. Persons wanting to access paid training through Work It!, Inc. must attend and successfully complete the soft skills program. Participants were assessed on their participation in the classes, attendance, timeliness, eye contact and overall attitude. If successful during soft skills training, participants were also tracked using the same metrics during paid training opportunities.
